The Full 8-Stage Cleaning Process
Every rug we collect — regardless of size or type — goes through all 8 stages. Nothing is skipped.
Inspection at collection
When our driver arrives at your door, we carry out a full condition inspection with you present. We photograph the rug, note any stains or areas of concern, and discuss anything specific you'd like us to focus on. Full transparency from the start.
Industrial vacuuming
Back at our Milngavie facility, the rug is industrially vacuumed on both sides to remove loose surface soiling before any wet cleaning begins. This prevents dry soil being pushed deeper into the fibres during washing.
Rug tumbling — deep dry soil removal
Your rug goes into our specialist rug tumbler — a large rotating drum that dislodges deep-seated dry contaminants: sand, dust, pet hair, pollen, and allergens that even a powerful vacuum can't reach. Some rugs release kilograms of dry soil at this stage alone.
Flat-bed beating
Our flat-bed beating machine strikes and vibrates the rug fibres to dislodge any remaining deep-seated particles, particularly important for high-pile and tightly woven rugs where dry soil becomes compacted within the weave.
Specialist washing
We select the most appropriate washing method for your rug's construction and condition — shallow pool immersion for delicate or antique pieces, or our multi-brush automatic system for robust modern rugs. pH-balanced, fibre-safe cleaning solutions throughout.
Thorough rinsing
Every rug is rinsed completely to remove all cleaning residue from the fibres. Residue left behind attracts dirt rapidly after cleaning — something we're absolutely committed to preventing.
Centrifuge extraction
Our high-speed centrifuge spinner removes 90–98% of all moisture from the rug in minutes. This dramatically reduces drying time and prevents the dampness that leads to browning, musty smells, dye movement, and backing damage.
Vertical drying and quality check
Your rug hangs in our specialist vertical drying room until completely dry — never rushed, never folded damp. Once dry it undergoes a final quality inspection before being carefully rolled and packaged for return to your door.
